Harley Softail 1990

The softail Springer after 9 years laid up

It started out as me offering to help a friend get his Harley going after 9 years storage so he could arrange to sell it, as he was no longer going to ride. It quickly became clear I would need to get it home to sort it as inactivity had taken it’s toll. There was a fair bit to do. It had been parked up and just fell into disuse. The fuel had formed heavy deposits in the carb and the engine had wet sumped which is quite common on these if they are left unused for a long period of time. The crackle finish on parts of the engine had seen better days and the indicator control unit had failed.
