Engine Casings and Cylinders

The crackle finish paint on the engine was looking pretty shoddy and really let the bike down overall. I did not want to remove the engine at this stage as I was unsure if it was going to be a keeper or just as short term recomission so I set about cheering it up in situ.

The Preperation was a time consuming process, a thorough clean and the lots of work with a set of wire brushes and plenty of scotch pads eventually saw the loose and flaking paint out of the way. Next it was masked up to avoid spraying everything in sight fiddly but worth taking time with.. I then used an aerosol wrinkle finish paint sourced from the internet to repaint as much of the engine as was possible. The paint works best in a hot enviornment which encourages the wrinkle effect to form, it was far from warm so a hot air gun was employed to get the desired finish.

The finished article, it’s not factory perfect but very respectable and will show the bike to a much better standard.
